Terms and conditions

The 1st Person Project is an ongoing collection of the personal histories of ECT consumers and survivors. Please read the terms and conditions before leaving your history. By entering your story into the 1st Person Project Database, you agree to the terms and conditions set below.

1. The 1st Person Project is copyrighted by ect.org.

2. All persons may use their real name or a pseudonym when entering their histories.

3. No researcher/media/individual may publish data from the 1st Person Project without the written permission of ect.org.

4. At some point in the future, I (Juli Lawrence, owner of ect.org) may study the data from an ethnographical viewpoint and publish the data contained herein. If this happens, however, I will email all participants who have furnished valid email addresses and notify them of such plans to give them the opportunity to remove their entry, and will publish a notice of such intentions. If I do publish anything as a result of this database, names will not be used and I will go to all lengths to protect individuals' privacy.

5. Participants understand that this database is accessible to everyone and that their stories may be read by anyone accessing the ect.org website.

6. Participants retain the rights to their histories and may publish their own history elsewhere, but only theirs.

7. Histories are owned by the individual and may not be published (other than by the individual owner) anywhere without the individual's written permission.

8. ect.org does not give, share, sell personal information to a third party.
