Cannot download this article. Seems frustrating that you have already been informed that this article cannot be downloaded yet the article remains on your site as a downloadable article. Frustrated. Paralegal in need of research. Dead ends are irritating.

I recieved ECT in my early thirties for severe depression I am now 58 years old and had breast cancer
in 2005 I underwent chemo and radiation .I still live with depression ,social anxiety, memory lose, unwanted thoughts, sleeplessness, now I have numerous physical problems associated with chemo in addition to the damage to my brain from chemo and radiation. I have applied for disability but have been denied. Is there a doctor or research that I could refer to that would help me prove the damaging effects of ECT and chemo?

This is scaring the hell out of me. my sister unknowingly was administered ECT and now she is not the same. Unbelievable, does anyone know if they are supposed to inform you before they do this procedure?

I had Ect 7 years ago for severe depression and not only did I keep the depession but have severe short term and some long term memory loss that has not left. Events, names, days and even years are a jumbled mess. Most of Europe has stopped doing Ect and some states here like Ohio. I believe there should be a class action suit. The pamphlet they give you is vague and mentions only temporary memory loss and how wonderful it is and how it helps 90% of patients. Where is the truth in the pamphlet. Like anybody who signs to have it done is in any condition to sign for such a barbaric treatment in the first place. I am disgusted. There is a memory test you can take at some hospitals. I took mine at the University of Iowa hospital. An MRI should also show temperal damage where the pads were placed and coincidentally partial memory is stored. I feel for all of you!

Had ECT 10 years ago…cannot remember anything from eating, sleeping….antidepressant have vile side effects on me…now I was told I should have it again…my anxiety is at a all time high and am so afraid. I am beginning to think I will never be the same if I have it.
