Current Comment Policy

Why have some comments been moved? Sometimes people post a comment, not realizing what page of the site they're on. Those comments may not be appropriate for that page, or may bog down the page for people who don't want to load hundreds of comments. This is just for organizational reasons, not trying to shut down any conversation. As long as you're not deliberately cruel to another person, I don't care what you say. There is also discussion at the message boards at ZapRap.org, but for privacy reasons, you do have to register and wait for my approval. Sorry it has to be that way, but there are some jerks online who get off on being stupid. Current Comment Policy - this will change as needed Comments are turned on for most pages. I use the Akismet spam system to catch spam - if you see a message that your post is in moderation, you have likely been caught in the spam system. Perhaps you put too many links in a post - sometimes I don't know why it catches legit comments. I will approve moderated posts as I can. It might be today, it might be a week from now. PLEASE NOTE: comments are sometimes archived in Google and other search engines.

Please do not post your home phone numbers in posts.

You don't know what kind of cranks are out there who might start calling you. If you want to communicate privately with another person, exchange email addresses and privately exchange phone numbers. Additionally, you may want to reconsider using your true last name when you comment. I often get frantic emails from people who have applied for a new job, Googled themselves, and discovered that their comments here show up on Google. I try and respond as I can to eradicate last names, but sometimes I'm out of town, sick or otherwise occupied and don't get to my email as timely as I would like. And Google takes time to erase it from their archives. If you do a search the night before an interview and hope Google will remove it, you're shit outta luck. Google is slow, and they don't really care about your interview. Plus, it's a huge process to ask them to. One more hint: if you email me about an issue like this, you'll have better results if the email is somewhat polite. Sending threats of lawsuits is likely to piss me off, depending on my mood of the hour. You would be surprised at the tone of some of these emails I get. That's all I can ask. I know that many of you are in the midst of shock therapy, and you aren't thinking straight when you post. I'm sorry for that; I've been there. What I generally do is change a last name to something different, because Google reacts more quickly to that than a request to remove something. That's all.
