Hello,
I am worried about my brother who’s court appointed guardian requested shock theropy by this so called doctor. I believe my brother is being over druged as well as being shocked.
The guardian will not let anyone see my brother. Infact for over sixs years no one in the family was allowed to even know where my brother was or have any contact with him in anyway. Now that our mother is dead the guardian had to let me know were my brother is to inform him of our mothers passing.
However, no one is allowed to see him or speak with him. I do not understand how in America this can be happening.
I have called every one and ten months later sill I can not see my brother or help him.
Please let me know if there may be something I can do to help my brother.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Garr Sanders
I am 21 years old, a college student and an advocate for ECT. Ive recently been online looking for discussion boards on people who are skeptical or are trying to decide if ECT is for them. Honestly, ECT saved my life. Last December I had a series of treatments in a local hospital that MY psychiatrist performed himself. He’s VERY experienced and he’s an amazing doctor.
Reading the posts about people who are against ECT surprises me. I don’t understand how people can criticize the treatment if they’ve never gone through it. I’m more than sure that people have had bad experiences with ECT or even some people that could not be helped from it. But there are 100s of thousands of people who have been helped, and I am one of them. Yes, I did have some memory loss and some cognitive problems a couple months after treatment..but the benefits of the treatment by FAR outway the side effects. I was on the brinks of suicide and the ECT saved my life. If you’re contemplating on getting ECT..make sure that your benefits will outway the side effects and PLEASE make sure you have an experienced and licensed doctor do the treatments. I’m 100% for ECT.
Those of you who haven’t gotten the treatment done and are against it, please don’t send me messages voicing your opinion. I won’t accept it.
