Mind

Often used as a synonym for intellect, although sometimes the term is used to designate a combination of both intellect and will.  The Latin word mens is sometimes correlative to the Greek term nous, indicating the highest part of the human soul as cognitive and appetitive, obedientially open to the supernatural gift of God. In modern philosophy, mind is often dualistically contrasted to matter.
